Lifestyle & Wellbeing Services
A karate-based exercise program for older adults. Gentle, proven, and genuinely enjoyable.
We run a unique fitness and wellbeing program in residential aged care facilities across Australia. It's based on the softer side of Okinawan Goju Karate – seated exercises that improve mobility, flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
We are an accredited provider, currently delivering programs to leading residential aged care organisations across Australia. (refer to client logos)
We were the first to introduce this kind of program into Australian residential aged care. The response from residents has been genuinely remarkable.
Why residents respond to it
All exercises are done seated, so residents of all abilities can take part. Over time, your residents will typically see:
- Better mobility and movement
- Improved flexibility
- Stronger upper body
- Sharper coordination and mental focus
- More social engagement – people look forward to the sessions
And beyond the physical benefits – residents genuinely enjoy learning about karate. It gives them something interesting to talk about and look forward to each week.

See it for yourself
It’s one thing to describe the program. It’s another to see residents smiling, moving, engaging, and looking forward to each session. These videos show the impact better than words ever could.
What the research shows
Studies consistently show that traditional martial arts are safe, adaptable, and effective for adults over 60. The movements protect rather than stress joints, and the combination of physical and mental engagement makes it one of the more complete exercise options available for older adults.
Okinawa – the birthplace of the karate tradition our program is built on – is one of the world's five Blue Zones, the regions where people consistently live the longest and healthiest lives. That's not a coincidence. Our program brings that same tradition into aged care.
How the program works
We come to you. Our facilitators deliver every session at your facility, so there's no disruption to residents' routines.
Each resident works at their own pace and intensity. Nobody is pushed beyond what's comfortable. The program adapts to whoever is in the room – including residents in memory support units or those in low or high care environments.
How often and how much
Most of our clients run sessions weekly or fortnightly. We'll work with your schedule, your team, and your budget to find something that makes sense.
We're flexible on frequency, format, and scope. If you're not sure what would work for your facility, just ask – we've done this enough times to give you a straight answer.
If you're looking for a program that's different, evidence-backed, and that your residents will actually look forward to – we'd love to talk.
